DAN'S BIO

Dan Fleshman currently is the resident Magician at the Chop House Restaurant in Beaver Creek and Vail, Colorado since 2009. Dan adds a different twist to the table-side magic combo and has quickly become a valued member of the Chop House team! Working as a writer, producer, speaker and instructor in the industry throughout his time performing, Dan has done a little bit of everything and the broad base of experience is overly apparent in his magic. Over his many years of experience performing throughout the country, and around the world, Dan has perfected a wide array of mind-boggling magic, creating a performance not to be missed!

Dan Fleshman is a native of California but grew up in Hazelwood, Missouri. At the age of fifteen Dan discovered magic through a neighborhood friend, David Williamson. David showed Dan his magic set and performed a few of the tricks from it. Dan was hooked. Dan then met his uncle Jack who was an expert pool player who on a few occasions beat Minnesota Fats at his own game. But Jack was also very proficient with a deck of cards. He showed Dan many aspects of card sleights and would launch Dan to try to learn as much as he could with a deck of cards. However, Dan’s dream as a kid was not to be a famous magician but a professional basketball player.   And given another eight inches or so he might have been. It was this drive of being the best in basketball, which was instilled by his father Roy, that would set him on his path for being the very best he could with his magic.

At the age of sixteen Dan was hired (thanks to his mother Peg) to work at Magic Recipe Pizza in Hazelwood, Missouri. This would be the first of many restaurants gigs Dan would amass over the years. However, Dan was not hired to perform magic at the restaurant initially; he was hired to make pizzas. Then owner, Bob Blattel introduced Dan to a world of magic he had never seen.   Bob was a big inspiration for Dan. Shortly after working at the restaurant Bob ask Dan to start performing one evening a week for the guest. Dan was never short of an audience, he has six brothers and sisters he would practice on daily. But his biggest critic was and still is his best friend, Heffington. The mentor who had the most impact on Dan was Gene DeVoe. Gene taught Dan the more important aspects of entertainment. The one quote Dan remembers from Gene is, “If people like you as a person they will like your magic, but make sure the magic is strong”. Dan worked at DeVoe Magic Den when he was 16 years old for two years. Fast forward…..
